30 years ago one of the biggest video Game franchise was born. The Retro-gaming Connexion Association will celebrate this anniversary at the RGC 2014. Join us to celebrate TETRIS!
In 1984 the russian ingenieur Alexei Pajitnov created a game based on the british board game Pentomino, which aim is to place blocks mades of 5 square on a 8x8 grid. You have to use the whole space without leaving any square empty. Alexei design is a little easier; blocks are only composed of 4 bricks & those gave the name Tetris for tetra (4 in Greek).
At that time the Cold War was still raging on Earth, yet the game eventually got released in the Western Block on home computer in 1986. But only in 1989 this obscur game got a world wide exposure through the release of the Nintendo Game Boy and became the legend we all know now.
Nintendo will go on with Tetris for quite a long time with title such as Tetris Battle Gaiden on Super Famicom, Tetris DX on Game Boy Color and Tetris DS on Nintendo DS.
The video game consoles on the spot are: a Super Nintendo PAL Version (switched) with a Super Game Boy for Game Boy games, a Sega Saturn, a PlayStation, a Nintendo 64, a Wii and a PC running MAME.

Cette année, l'association Retro-gaming Connexion est fière de célébrer les 30 ans de la sortie d'un des jeux vidéo les plus cultes de l'histoire qu'est Tetris.
Conçu en 1984 par Alexei Pajitnov, ce chercheur en reconnaissance de la parole s'inspire du pentomino, un jeu de société de type casse-tête, dans laquelle il fallait placer des pièces composées de 5 blocs carrés sur une grille de 8 x 8 blocs carrés, afin de ne l''utiliser une seule et unique fois, sans chevauchement possible. Or pour ce jeu vidéo, les pièces ne sont composés que de 4 blocs carrés, donnant le nom au jeu (Tetris venant de tetra signifiant quatre).
À l'époque où la Guerre froide était encore d'actualité, le jeu fit tout de même son apparition dans le bloc de l'Ouest à partir de 1986. Il faudra attendre 1989 pour voir arriver la bombe que l'on connait tous, grâce à la sortie de la Game Boy de Nintendo. S'en suit des versions toutes plus mythiques les unes que les autres, comme Tetris Battle Gaiden sur Super Famicom, Tetris DX sur Game Boy Color ou encore Tetris DS sur Nintendo DS.
C'est le jeu le plus répandu sur toutes les plate-formes vidéo-ludiques imaginables, c'est pourquoi l'association Retro-gaming Connexion rend hommage à ce jeu mythique qu'est Tetris.
Un stand freeplay sera sur place afin que vous puissiez jouer aux meilleures versions ainsi que des dérivés. Les machines sur place se composeront d'une Super Nintendo switchée avec un Super Game Boy, d'une Sega Saturn, d'une PlayStation, d'une Nintendo 64, d'une Wii ainsi qu'un PC équipé de MAME.
