Our future.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know this is not a political forum, but I also can't resist to comment on this subject. Being originally from another country myself, I can understand people in some of the other countries thinking that this war is about oil, money, or power. Those people are bombarded with propaganda, and they are used to their own money- and power-greedy politicians; governments that are concerned only with their own wallets, and can care less about common people, needless to say the future of this planet. But for so many Americans and people who, like myself, have lived in this country for a while, to think that this war is about oil?!! Just like blow-torch, I'd like to know, what do those people think? They must be either extremely negative and cynical, or very shallow.
And another issue: peace advocates who protest against this war. I respect and support their notion about peace. But don't they realize that this war is to protect the very thing that is so important for them: peace on this planet. Let's say you are an animal rights advocate. OK, I'm with you, I don't want animals to be hurt. But assume that your dog got rabies, and all you do is just stand by and watch him killing your kids and other innocent people. Doesn't make much sense, does it? But this is exactly what the war protestors do at this time. They just keep repeating' "no war, no matter what." It is so narrow-minded!
And another group of people, who say that we shouldn't interfere with what going on in other countries. They say the president should worry about a well being of people in his own country, about economy. I believe this is exactly what our president is doing. A president's role is to be able to see a global scope of things, to think about the future. With advance in science and technology comes advance in weapons, which puts our entire planet in danger. There are a lot of countries on this planet, and, whether we want it or not, they are going to evolve, and a lot of them will have dictators in power. Please understand, that, given a chance, a tyrant will not hesitate a minute to kill millions if it will make him more powerful. If all countries mind their own business, there may come a day when there will be no planet. For our own sake and sake of our children, we must interfere; we may no longer allow evil leaders to remain in power. Because if there is no planet, there is no future for this country either. Ella.
